Meeting Stella, take II.
Poor Walter; seems like he has no luck with the ladies. After one failed attempt at making Walter and Stella, Brittany's pup, over to visit, they seem to finally be getting along. (Even though 'getting along' means Walter chasing after her drooling like an idiot, and Stella ignoring him... I'm not quite sure he understands the little things like size differences) Either way, we got a few cute shots out of the night!
Also, pork tenderloin and wine plus great friends equals a pretty awesome night. This weekend is looking to be starting out well! (Thanks for coming over Anna, Brittany and Chris!)
Tomorrow is a lesson in dry-walling. Hopefully all the extra work will be worth it in the end!

Remodeling the bathroom: Day 3
So, final day of our super-awesome extended weekend: Grounting, painting the wainscoting, and figuring out how to fix the small hiccups we have encountered.
Grouting went well today-- with the help of dad, we mucked up just about everything and turned out really liking the result. It's a bit difficult to see how everything is going to look together at the moment too, with our "it's a boy" crazy color scheme (we are very excited to put the wainscoting up to cover the yellow-duck look we have going on) but hopefully we should have things in line in a week or so. (I figure if I post about it, we will have pressure to actually finish!)
Next step-- figuring out how to fill the 1" gap between the wall and the sides of the vanity. Darn. We were thinking we had this whole thing so figured out. The previous owners had done a 'handy' job of jamming molding into the cracks of a typical 31" vanity... however, with my Mr. Fix-it dad urging us to come up with something professional looking, we are searching for the perfect cure.

Pick a little, tear a little: Remodeling the bathroom, Day 1 and 2
The time has finally come, the weekends have aligned (as has vacation time) and we were finally able to get started remodeling our master bathroom. (Okay, so perhaps it's more like a powder room, but we are proud of it regardless). For Christmas we were given a beautiful vanity and mirror from my grandparents, so we thought we would go for it and redo the whole thing. So far, we've decided to go for new tile, wainscoting, paint and lighting as well... so it should turn out to be a pretty neat project! Yesterday was demolition, today is paint, removing the toilet and tile... so far so good!
(More pics to follow; as our new lighting hasn't yet been installed and it's quite dark in there... also the fact that our bathroom used to be extremely yellow doesn't help the photos much! Sorry for the yellowness!)
Also, after a very busy weekend of playing up north in Bellingham and Canada, we got a very exhaused Walter back from my parents (thanks for watching him mom and dad!) which is possibly the most adorable thing ever... he hardly made it from the car to the couch. Poor thing. I'd have to say though, it is pretty awesome having a puppy fast asleep on the couch when you're running toilets and other dirty things through the house... as well as everything scattered about!
Very excited for day #2 off tomorrow for more work to be done!
