Baby Wisely: Week 22

How far along? 22 weeks (the size of a spaghetti squash, and a little over a pound)

Best moment this week: The Bean kicking the crap out of Bryan's hand for awhile yesterday while we relaxed on the couch (been feeling a bit under the weather lately-- you can see it on my awkward face in this photo-- pale and kind of sad looking. Aaaah, cold season!)

Movement: Again-- super kicky! Today and yesterday have been quite strange, we can officially see her punching around from the outside of my belly. I am curious when the Alien references will hit a little too close to home.

Food cravings: Nothing to report!

Anything sounding disgusting? Not disgusting-- just hard to eat! This cold is kicking my butt. It's making eating things not so much fun. (Having your sinuses shut down and throat out of commission makes nothing taste good. I miss getting excited about food already.)

How's the belly? Tight! Lathering on the cocoa butter. I can feel my skin freaking out officially.

Gender?: Lovely baby girl!

Sleep? Still no so good, compounding cold on top of everything else. Still remaining awake though! Perhaps a subtle warmup for surviving sleepless nights to come?

Belly button situation? Still out with a vigor

Clothing situation? Feeling pretty happy with the fact that I can wrap my mind around being pregnant, not fat. I am happily outgrowing nearly everything, and am still quite positive about it!

I'm generally feeling: Sick, but super happy! The weather has been great lately, and has been making me even more excited about the summer to come. Compounding the sunshine on top of the excitement of meeting our gal is a vitamin D overloaded good time.

In other news, we purchased a dresser for the nursery from Craigslist this weekend-- I kind of love it. It's a bit long for our tiny nursery, but we were hoping to have a dresser our bean could use for many years in the future. I hope it was a good choice! Paint to come next. I'm still having a dilemma over what color to paint.

I love this nursery oh so much-- but I really don't think we could handle another gray room in our house. Right now, the kitchen, living room, and guest room are all gray-- I feel like it could be time for more color! (But this is precious, is it not?!)

I think I'm leaning towards this blue/green color instead. I love it mixed with yellow, and I think a bit of pink could mix in there too as well. I guess we will see! Swatches to come.

We shall see! Until then, I will be happily pinning... (and sleeping. Lots. And drinking tea... so much tea...)

Baby Wisely: Week 21

How far along? 21 weeks (the length of a carrot, about 10.5 inches)

Best moment this week: Making our kickoff trip to Ikea to purchase a crib (and other fun things. How fun is the kids section at Ikea?!)

Movement: Yup-- our little gal is dancing around like crazy. I'm discovering hot drinks make her poke around a bunch, which is hilarious. (Not sure why though?! Maybe its purely coincidental...)

Food cravings: Nothing too crazy this week. Our sweetie is still craving lots of sweets; that's it generally.

Anything sounding disgusting? Not so much! (Always nice!)

How's the belly? Getting bigger-- making my favorite pea coat fit snugly!

Gender?: Lovely baby girl!

Sleep? Not so great this week. Lots of tossing, turning, crazy dreams, and middle of the night bathroom runs.

Belly button situation? Has officially been dubbed the 'piggy' belly button.

Clothing situation? Loving maternity tanks and jeans. And pj pants. And stretchy tops. Oh yes, who's cozy?! I am.

I'm generally feeling: Great this week. Being able to wrap my mind around having a girl is making me super happy.

In other news, lots has been happening in the Wisely household! We are officially 98% finished with our fireplace mantle, which is super exciting. You can't have a kid without something to hang stockings on at Christmas, obviously.

Also, I can't bring the camera out without Walter giving me his handsome face. Documented.

Lastly, we bought a crib! After quite a bit of shopping, we decided on this one from Ikea. Super cheap, great reviews, and converts to a toddler bed later on. Score! We also bought frames for some great prints we bought in France. The problem is, although we originally thought they would work for both a girl or a boy, we discovered that's not quite the case. (Also, please disregard our sad, undressed crib mattress and other messy things. This is an 'in progress' shot, after all.)

The ones with the parachutes are my favorite, but I don't think they're going to work. A bit too boyish for our little gal. We're thinking the circus one might still work though, so that's a plus. Also, we love the little foxes we bought at Ikea too.

So who knows. I'm no pro at decorating, but I've been enjoying the heck out of trying. I don't think you can go wrong when you're decorating for a little one-- there are far too many cute things out there. I will be updating more often, for sure!

Baby Wisely: 20 Weeks

How far along? 20 weeks (the size of a a banana, 6 1/2 inches long)

Best moment this week: Finding our that our bean is actually a beanette!! It's so nice to finally put a gender our baby. It was really starting to get confusing; some days she'd be a girl, others a boy, others an 'it'... no bueno. We have officially been dubbed parents of a--very healthy--and big!--female!

Movement: Yes! Still punching and kicking up a storm. Took a friends advice and sugar-loaded before our ultrasound today; she's been dancing around ever since.

Food cravings: Pumpkin flax granola cereal. So what if it's only half way through the week and I've gone through my weeks worth of cereal and nearly all of my milk? Also, anything sweet almost always sounds like a good idea. If it has cinnamon and sugar I'm all over it.

Anything sounding disgusting? Salty things actually. Which is odd. Nothing is making me nauseous, but I don't really get excited over salty snacks anymore. Feeling like I've lost a bit of my old identity.

How's the belly? Growing steadily!

Gender?: GIRL!!! We've decided from her profile that she has Bryan's chin and both of our long legs-- getting excited to meet her in person already :)

Sleep? Body pillow has definitely made life easier. I'm missing sleeping on my face.

Belly button situation? Soft and protruding as always!

Clothing situation? Tall pregnant ladies? I would direct you to Motherhood Maternity. Invested in two decently cheap pairs of jeans-- which actually fit better than my last handfull of jean purchases. Score! Now only if I could live in them all the time... (Also did a bit of tank shopping online, expected to arrive next week-- I figure if I have jeans and tank tops, I should be able to survive alright for awhile at least!)

I'm generally feeling: Hormonal, which is good and bad-- if I'm grumpy, I'm super grumpy-- If I'm happy, I'm usually skipping around and singing somewhere. It could be worse!

Baby Wisely: Week 19

How far along? 19 weeks (6 inches; large mango baby!)

Best moment this week: Having Bryan feel baby! All day yesterday I started feeling sharper pokes (not so much 'spinning', but more 'hey-- that feels an awful lot like an apendage); ended up watching a movie with Bryan's hand on my tummy and he got to take part in the experience as well. So great! I'm happy he gets to feel a small bit of what I've been feeling!

Movement: Yes! Tiny pokes throughout the day. Things that make baby happy at the moment? Hockey games/Bryan narrating hockey games, loud music, and after eating. Very neat!

Food cravings: Nothing crazy yet-- I'm still rather surprised by this?? Perhaps I eat too odd regularly.

Anything sounding disgusting? Not this week. Hooray gaining extra pounds because everything sounds so delicious!

How's the belly? Feeling biiiiiiigger. Along with the rest of me. Gotta maintain a healthy, baby padded ball of lady-oven over here (I'm for it)!

Gender prediction: Finding out NEXT WEEK. No more predictions. SO EXCITED.

Sleep? Invested in a body pillow. Getting a bit sick of this 'sleeping on your left side only' thing. Why is it that as soon as you hear something 'helpful', it immediately makes you crave doing anything but that!??! I miss sleeping on my face...

Belly button situation? Starting to gain visibility outside of the clothes.

Clothing situation? Maternity jeans? Fail. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised-- it takes me months to find pants regularly so I couldn't expect to score on my first online purchase. Sticking to jersey still!

I'm generally feeling: Happy! And spacey. Sometimes I get distracted by the cute little pokes that are happening. (I'm sure they won't be as adorable once they morph into drop-kicks and the like.)

Looking forward to: Next week!! EEE!!
